Planting Day - Great Southern Rail Trail

Join the Korumburra Landcare Group for their first Planting Day on the Great Southern Rail Trail - 1500 plants to go in the ground !

Recent weather events have delayed preparation of the planting site on the Great Southern Rail Trail.

The planting day now has a new date : Saturday 18th May.

WHEN: Saturday 18th May 9.30am – 12.00 midday

WHO: Everyone ! Members, non-members & first timers are all welcome

WHERE: Park at the Korumburra Lions Wayside Stop, South Gippsland Highway (opposite the Korumburra Showgrounds). It is an easy 10-15 minute walk along the rail trail to the site.

WHAT TO BRING / WEAR: layered warm clothing and wet weather gear (depending on the weather), gumboots / waterproof footwear and gloves, drink, snacks.

LUNCH ! Please join us for a BBQ lunch at the Picnic Shelter afterwards. BYO chair. Tea and coffee provided but BYO thermos of hot water.

THE FULL STORY: Come along and help us put 1,500 plants in the ground!
KLG, in collaboration with South Gippsland Shire Council, have identified several areas along the GSRT for planting works.

Our KLG Growers Group has grown 5,000 plants to be donated for this activity in 2024.

Stage 1 of this project, is between the rail trail and the South Gippsland Hwy. It’s in and around a gully approx. 400m west of the Korumburra Wayside Stop
