Round Table Update Feb 2020
Last Thursday night we held our February Round Table meeting at the Coal Creek meeting rooms. We kicked off with an update from Council’s Manager of Infrastructure Delivery, John Moylan, who updated us on the rail trail project. The tender for the track removal work has been awarded and will be announced very soon and then that work will commence. It was interesting to note that this section between Leongatha and Nyora includes eight bridges. All of these have now had level two inspections, and two of the eight do not meet current standards and will be rebuilt as part of the rail trail work. It’s great to see things progressing here, slowly but surely.
The walkway to the high school will finally get underway during March, and will be finished around July/August, which will be fantastic for our secondary school students.
Jenni Keerie from Milpara House informed us that the major stakeholders involved in the Community Hub Project have had recent meetings and been shown updated 3D designs of the hub, which are looking terrific. They will be displayed this week at Milpara House, and next week at our library. Did you know that the new library will have 24 hour swipe card access?
So much more was discussed it’s hard to know what to mention, but I must remind you of two more things: firstly, keep an eye out for changes to our subway, with a great “Girls Own Space” art project underway there now, to be completed within 8 weeks and including new lighting through the tunnel.
Also, don’t forget to take a look at the Korumburra App (free download from the App store or Google Play store) and check out the ‘What’s On’ section at the bottom of the screen. It’s continually updated and contains a wealth of information on our fantastic town. Likewise, the Korumburra Round Table Facebook page is full of current people, places and events. Make sure you’re not missing out!!
See you all next month,
Pee-Wee Lewis
President.
